- MOSSY HISTORY -
The Mossy family entered the automotive industry as a dealer in 1921 and gained valuable experience selling/servicing Buicks in their New Orleans dealership.
Then the family acquired a New Orleans Oldsmobile dealership in 1934.
With the depression ravaging the country and WWII looming just over the horizon, the auto industry was in desperate condition and dealers were hard pressed to find ways to survive. But through it all the Mossy Oldsmobile dealership survived by becoming one of the first stores to sell parts to consumers.
The New Orleans dealership flourished in the post WWII era and in 1971 Wiley Mossy bought a small downtown Houston Olds franchise from dealer Sam White.
The Mossy's turned that small operation into the #2 out of roughly 3000 Olds dealers in the nation.
Success soon followed the Mossy's dealership group into California. In 1984 the family purchased a bankrupt Nissan dealership in San Diego, CA. That store would end up as the number one selling Nissan franchise in the nation. In fact, as a dealer Mossy now owns 6 Nissan dealerships in the San Diego area.
Back in Houston Mossy acquired a Nissan dealership and moved it to the 12150 Katy Freeway location.
With a commitment to the customer's needs the store would rocket to the top of the Nissan sales leader list. In 1997 the dealership sales volume would reach #2 out of all the Nissan dealers in the nation.
As a dealer the Mossy family has a long, successful history in the automotive industry. They have persevered through both the bad times and the good times. Through it all, one thing has remained constant, the Mossy family's desire to serve the transportation needs of the American public in a fair and honest way.
