A wheel alignment is the process of bringing your vehicle's suspension into its proper configuration - making sure that the position of the wheels are aligned with one another and the road surface. Some issues that may indicate you need an alignment are:
Do your tires wear unevenly? Does your car veer to one side while driving? Is your steering wheel crooked? These are all signs of alignment issues. Failing to fix them can reduce the life of your tires and even cause your driver assist systems to malfunction. Often these signs are barely noticeable. It is important to get your alignment checked every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first
Every inch a vehicle is out of alignment is equivalent to dragging your tire sideways 100ft for every mile driven. If your daily commute is 20 miles, that’s like dragging your tire sideways across 6 football fields!
Vehicles with alignment issues can suffer a decrease in fuel efficiency by up to 7%!
Almost all your driver-assist systems depend on proper vehicle alignment. This includes stability control, parking assist, traction control, dynamic control and more. Once your car is aligned all of these systems must be properly reset and recalibrated. That is why it is important to have your alignment performed by a shop that is equipped with right system and tools that are specifically designed for this advanced technology.
